Introduction
Airblue is a low-cost private Pakistani airline with its headquarters in Islamabad. Airblue conducts programmed flights joining Pakistani domestic destinations with international destinations in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
Operations
The airline launched operations to Istanbul, with full traffic rights to from Pakistan and Manchester in 2011. In June 2012, Airblue acquired one Airbus A320 and two leased A340-300s. In October 2012, Airblue launched flights to Birmingham. However, both these non-stop flights to the UK have been discontinued. All aircrafts have a economy cabin with a 3-by-3 layout.
Airblue introduced e-ticketing, wireless check-in and self-check-in kiosk facilities becoming the first airline in Pakistan to do so.
E-Cargo
Airblue has launched e-Cargo service as well to cater to air freight markets of Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom and sine then Airblue every day, deals with 70,000 kilograms of cargo space on more than 18 flights.
Brief Histroty
Airblue was established in 2003. It started operations on 18 June 2004 with just three leased Airbus A320-200 aircraft serving Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Airblue from the very start became very popular with its clients, which allowed the airline to compete with Pakistan International Airlines, the flag carrier of Pakistan, flying more than 400,000 customers in the first year. Soon the Airline began to host citizens of more cities in Pakistan including Peshawar, Quetta and Nawabshah. In August 2005, Airblue propelled its first international flight to Dubai from Karachi. In June 2007, Airblue launched a flight to Manchester.
Loyalty Program
“Blue Miles” is the frequent flyer program Airblue has introduced and has agreements with local banks to produce credit cards that give special discounts.
Fleet
Currently, Airblue has three Airbus A320-200 and five Airbus A321-200 in its fleet.
